DOG TRAINING - TOOLS AND TIPS

This is so easy. But again requires the best patience on your part. The best time to do this is right after you bring your puppy home, and he should be fully trained to stay in the yard without a fence by the time he is 6 months old.

Attach a leash to your puppy or dog and slowly walk around your property line.

As your puppy begins to cross the property line into the neighbors yard etc, gently do a "leash pop" and say "No!" at the same time. Repeat this over and over. Practice this method daily so that your puppy eventually understands what you want him to do.

He will begin to get a sense of the area and his domain through repetition, through sight, and through smell.

This method I have taught to my dog, and I have had no problems with her running away. You will need to establish the authority with each of your family members, and they need to practice this with him as well.  This is so that no matter who is giving your dog a command, he will listen.
